GKSBx is the Mercury's implementation of GKS, ISO Standard 7942, Level 2C under X Windows. Since its creation in 1987, more than 1,500 licenses have been issued. And with the latest release of Version 9.1, we can say that it more than responds to new criteria for modernness and performance. |

GKS features were driven by the following goals:
- Rigorous adherence to the ISO standard
- Performance
- Portability
- Openness towards the standards (UNIX, X11, MOTIF, etc.)
- Compatibility
- Multi-driver support
And through focusing on these goals, GKSBx has had an incredible record:
- GKSBx conforms 100% to the ISO standard GKS 7942 (since 1985)
- GKSBx F77 conforms 100% to the ISO standard 8651-1 of 1988
- GKSBx C conforms 100% to the ISO standard 8651-4 of November 1991.
