Installation

This document describes how to install Open Inventor .NET on the supported platforms. The current version of Open Inventor .NET is available for the following platforms:

• Windows
  • Windows XP (32-bit), Windows 2000
  • Windows XP (64-bit)

Installing on Windows

Use the installer provided with the product to automatically install it. Be sure to install the version of Open Inventor .NET that is appropriate for your platform (32-bit or 64-bit).

System requirements

• Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 with C# compiler
• .NET Framework 2.0, which you can get here (32-bits) or here (64-bits).

Windows installer

Open Inventor .NET is provided on Windows with an InstallShield™ installer.

This installer performs the following tasks:

1. Install, if necessary, the native Open Inventor Runtime.
2. Copy the assemblies into the installation folder.
3. Copy the demonstration programs into the installation folder.
4. Copy the documentation into the installation folder.
5. Add some entries to the System Registry to provide direct access to assemblies in the demonstration projects.
   

Note : Open Inventor .NET for 32-bit cannot be installed on a Windows 64-bit system.
