An input device is defined by:

• A current measure
• A trigger
• An initial value
• A type of notification (prompt) and of echo
• An echo surface/volume
• A data packet

The measure and the trigger of an input device are defined when the workstation using the input device is activated. The initial value, the type of prompt and pet, the echo surface/volume and the data packet can be supplied by the application program, using the INITIALIZE functions.
