GPHIGS V6.0 is designed to be as compatible as possible with the previous releases. Since version 1.x, GPHIGS implements the latest revision of the ISO bindings. The following matrix lists the evolution of ISO bindings for PHIGS and PHIGS PLUS FORTRAN and C binding in the releases of GPHIGS.

GPHIGS V6.0 is fully compatible with GPHIGS V3.0 (*) The filled cells are not compatible with GPHIGS V6.0:
- GPHIGS V6.0 no more supports PHIGS DIS binding. In GPHIGS V2.0 this binding was activated by the DIS compilation flag.
- GPHIGS V6.0 supports now a FORTRAN binding conform to the ISO binding.
The environment variable GPHIGS_FILE has been renamed to OPGS_RUN_TIME.
