Public

Open-source lidar data may have periods with low quality or anomalous data. Quality control (QC) of observational data involves a thorough review and analysis of the measured values and thereby increases the confidence with which the data may be used for further analysis. QC of open-source observations has been performed using a multi-set process that includes final review by expert analysts, not simply relying on automated workflows. This routine increases trust in derivative datasets, including those that are based on these measurements, adding significant value.

Lidar - TGS Multi-client

In June 2022, TGS announced the world’s first multi-client offshore wind measurement campaign for the New York Bight leases. In this project, we are utilizing one of the world’s most advanced floating LiDAR systems with the highest level of accuracy (stage 3 validation) from EOLOS. The data will be acquired continuously throughout a two-year deployment campaign, and the data stream will be quality-controlled and made available to customers daily. In addition to the LiDAR wind speed measurements, the data package will include critical metocean and environmental data such as significant wave heights, ocean current profile, and acoustic monitoring of whales, dolphins, birds, and bats.
