The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has confirmed Gulf of America Lease Sale 262. TGS provides unmatched seismic and geological data to support confident bidding.

Lease Sale 262 Announcement

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has been directed to conduct Lease Sale 262, following a ruling from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Scheduled for December 2025, this federal offshore oil lease sale will open more than 80 million acres across the Gulf of America to exploration and development.

TGS Data Coverage

TGS offers modern seismic data across the Gulf of America, supporting all key blocks in Lease Sale 262. Our portfolio includes 3D streamer, OBN, regional 2D data and advanced seismic imaging such as Elastic Dynamic Matching FWI (E-DMFWI).

E-DMFWI is now being applied to Amendment 2, the northern portion of Amendment 1, and the newly acquired Amendment 4. Using TGS’ proprietary Gemini enhanced frequency source, Amendment 4 provides improved seismic penetration through low-frequency output and greater clarity in deepwater environments. Laconia Phase 3, underway in central Keathley Canyon in collaboration with Viridien, uses ZXPLR nodes and the Sercel TPS source to enhance imaging in the Paleogene play.

Our data library also includes more than 23,000 well logs, multibeam bathymetry, geochemical analysis, CCS saline aquifer data, production trends and post-well interpretation. These resources offer insight into new exploration opportunities and support informed bidding strategies in the Gulf’s most complex deepwater basins.

Data-Driven Exploration

TGS delivers exceptional value across the Gulf of America through high-quality, comprehensive regional data, including streamer and ocean bottom node (OBN), which is crucial for imaging complex subsurface structures. By enabling more accurate prospect identification, pre-drill assessments and risk mitigation, TGS supports improved exploration outcomes. With these insights, operators can better understand both regional and reservoir-scale geology, leading to more informed assessments of lease areas ahead of bid submissions for the 2025 Gulf of America lease sale.

Reducing Uncertainty in the GoA with Superior Acquisition and Imaging

The combination of sparse OBN acquisition and TGS’ Elastic Dynamic Matching FWI (E-DMFWI) is revolutionizing imaging in complex geological settings. TGS’s Amendment Phase 1 & 2 surveys, acquired in partnership with SLB, demonstrate how long-offset OBN acquisition and TGS’ E-DMFWI overcome illumination limitations and depth velocity uncertainties encountered in Gulf of America subsalt imaging , issues evident in legacy wide-azimuth streamer only based images.
