Gulf of America Lease Sale Big Beautiful Gulf 3 (BBG3) Announced: Explore Modern Data Supporting Your Next Move Learn More

Revolutionizing Exploration in the
Gulf of America

The Gulf of America has long been a cornerstone of America's energy landscape, providing significant oil and gas reserves. As exploration ventures into increasingly challenging areas, the need for advanced seismic technologies has never been greater.

TGS offerings deliver high-quality, comprehensive regional datasets, including streamer and ocean bottom node (OBN) data, which are critical for imaging complex subsurface structures in deepwater environments. These advanced datasets support more accurate prospect identification, pre-drill estimations, risk reduction and reservoir characterization across the life of the field. TGS data and insights help operators make informed decisions and optimize resource extraction in the region's challenging geological conditions.

Data Availability

TGS offers a wide variety of industry-leading subsurface data, including modern 3D OBN seismic in key areas and 2D regional surveys. The TGS library also includes more than 23,000 well logs, production and forecasting datasets, multibeam bathymetry, geochemical core analysis, post-well interpretation and carbon capture and storage (CCS) saline aquifer data.

Imaging

TGS continues to advance subsurface imaging of complex subsalt plays through modern marine acquisition and processing. As the energy industry evolves, technologies like long-offset OBN and elastic FWI are becoming essential. These advancements improve our ability to illuminate complex subsurface structures and find new resources, while supporting the Gulf of America's continued contribution to U.S. energy security and economic prosperity.

Recent breakthroughs in seismic technology reflect a broader trend of ongoing innovation, opening new exploration opportunities, especially in the Western Gulf of America, where traditional streamer data often falls short in delivering high-quality subsalt imaging.

Geology

The Gulf of America features complex geology shaped by tectonic activity and sedimentary deposition on top of thick salt canopies, creating favorable environments for oil and gas exploration. Advanced subsurface imaging is essential for understanding the Gulf's challenging geological conditions, especially in deepwater areas. TGS data helps E&P companies better understand both regional and reservoir-scale geology, allowing for more effective evaluation of the region.

Technology

TGS is advancing offshore subsurface imaging in the Gulf of America by integrating advanced seismic acquisition technologies like the Gemini enhanced frequency seismic source and Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) designs. These innovations set new standards in data quality and survey efficiency for complex offshore environments.

The versatility of the TGS Gemini source, paired with industry-leading elastic FWI, positions TGS to deliver next-generation multi-client long-offset, low-frequency OBN solutions. This approach improves data quality and subsurface clarity, helping customers make more informed exploration and development decisions while reducing overall decision-making timelines and risk.
