US Onshore Basins
The Lower 48 remains home to the world's most active and prolific unconventional plays, spanning every major producing basin. TGS seismic, geological and well-data libraries equip customers with subsurface intelligence and provide the inputs needed to drive better drilling decisions.
De-Risk Stacked Pay Exploration Across North American Onshore
TGS offers more than 30,000 square miles of modern 3D seismic data across the most active onshore oil and liquids plays in North America, spanning the Permian, Anadarko, and Appalachian basins in the U.S. and the Duvernay and Montney in Canada, with active expansion into the Uinta and Rocky Mountain basins. Paired with a database of more than 6 million digital wells, regionally integrated stratigraphic interpretation, and comprehensive production data, TGS delivers unmatched breadth and depth of subsurface intelligence to operators and explorers working the unconventionals space.

High-Resolution Seismic for Deeper Permian Plays
Pontiac 3D is TGS’ newest high-resolution seismic acquisition in the Permian Basin. It is designed to support evaluation and horizontal development of the Spraberry and Wolfcamp formations, along with emerging deeper plays in the Barnett Shale and Devonian horizons.
Along the Midland Basin and Central Basin Platform margin, structural and stratigraphic complexity is common. Well control becomes increasingly sparse in the deeper section across much of the survey area. In this environment, modern seismic imaging is critical for reducing subsurface uncertainty and characterizing deeper prospective horizons with greater confidence.
Utica Basin
The Utica trend in the Appalachian Basin continues to be an area of growth for TGS as operators expand across the play. The TGS Utica Merge 3D provides the most extensive continuous modern seismic coverage of the rich liquids trend across eastern Ohio.
The addition of Birmingham-Gemini 3D marks a significant development in the play's life cycle as operators move further up-dip into the oilier section of the Utica trend. While regional power grids near data centers are experiencing higher demand for electricity, many newly announced data centers are planning behind-the-meter power generation, sourcing natural gas from the Utica directly for power consumption.
Anadarko Basin
The Anadarko Basin is experiencing a renewed focus as M&A activity drives new investment in the SCOOP/STACK and Cherokee Granite Wash plays. The TGS seismic footprint across the basin, combined with geological and well data, offers operators broad, high-quality data to navigate this evolving landscape and make confident drilling decisions.
Multivariate Modeling
To work within tight capex budgets, TGS connects geologists and engineers through log-derived multivariate modeling. This project de-risks undeveloped drilling locations by linking stratigraphy with reservoir evaluation and quantifies the impact of geological and engineering attributes.

Better Imaging: DM-FWI and Pore Pressure Modeling
To accurately image novel targets within onshore seismic surveys, TGS uses Dynamic Matching FWI (DM-FWI) workflows to produce high-resolution velocity models. In the Permian, where several dissolution zones are present, near-surface characterization is essential to high-end imaging at depth.
With an ongoing focus on operational efficiency, TGS has introduced vertical effective stress and lithology inversion derivatives as a tool to identify optimal landing zones and drilling hazards. These volumes help engineers quickly pinpoint overpressured benches and carbonate rafts, increasing yields and improving drilling efficiency.
