Gemini Enhanced Frequency Source: Precision in Seismic Imaging

The Gemini source extends low-frequency bandwidth for clearer imaging, improved velocity models, and more consistent 4D monitoring. Its simple, single-element design reduces complexity, improves safety, and keeps operations on track.

Unique 1-D Point Source Technology

Gemini is a single-element, omnidirectional source engineered for seismic imaging. Unlike conventional arrays, its true 1-D signature eliminates directional variability, resulting in cleaner wavelets, reduced sidelobes, and more reliable AVO/AVA analysis.

By extending the low-frequency range by an extra octave, Gemini improves the accuracy of Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) models and accelerates convergence. The result: clearer images, better geological interpretation, and higher confidence in velocity modeling across complex subsurface environments.

Imaging Accuracy and Operational Efficiency

More reliable results

  • Reduced uncertainty in source designature improves AVO/AVA consistency
  • Extended low-frequency content supports more accurate initial velocity models and faster FWI workflows
  • Enhanced bandwidth produces crisper, higher-resolution images with fewer sidelobes
  • Delivers consistency in 4D acquisition, with fewer reshoots and better repeatability

Simplified deployment

  • Single-element design reduces mechanical complexity and lowers the risk of downtime
  • Streamlined towing configuration enables faster deployment and retrieval
  • Fewer moving parts mean fewer maintenance requirements and faster crew training

Productivity and Resilience at Sea

Gemini’s straightforward design improves operational resilience. When deployed with a backup onboard, source-related issues can be addressed quickly without interrupting the survey. This minimizes reshoot risk, reduces NPT, and keeps acquisition timelines on track.

Fewer components also translate to reduced HSE exposure during handling, helping crews operate more safely and efficiently in demanding offshore environments.
