Perth Australia (09 February 2009) TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (TGS) has appointed a new management team to strengthen the company's efforts in the Asia-Pacific region.

Rod Starr has been named the General Manager, Asia Pacific. Tanya Johnstone has been promoted to Regional Manager - Indonesia & Australasia. In addition, TGS welcomes Iain Buchan to the TGS team. Mr. Buchan has been named the Regional Manager - South & Southeast Asia. In their new roles, both Ms. Johnstone and Mr. Buchan join Bruce Williams, Commerical Manager, and Paul Tredgett, Coordinator of Data Processing, reporting to Rod Starr.

Mr. Starr was previously the Senior VP, Geologic Products & Services for TGS, where he successfully grew the company's well log business both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining TGS, Mr. Starr spent much of his career at Unocal Corporation and holds a B.S. degree in Business/Finance from San Diego State University. Mr. Starr is based in TGS' Perth, Australia office and reports directly to David Hicks, Vice President AMEAP. 

Ms. Johnstone has been part of the TGS Asia Pacific team since 2002 and most recently held the position of Manager of Sales. She holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Geophysics from the University of Otago in New Zealand. Tanya is based in the TGS office located in Perth.

Mr. Buchan joins TGS with 25 years of experience in developing multi-client projects in the Asia Pacific region. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics from the University of Liverpool in the UK. Iain is based in a new TGS representative office located in Singapore.

Additionally, Peter Baillie who is located in TGS' Perth office has been named Chief Geologist for an expanded region that now includes Africa and the Middle East in addition to Asia Pacific (AMEAP). Peter has 10 years of experience with TGS and has been instrumental in developing the geologic framework for survey development in TGS' Asia Pacific region. Peter will join the AMEAP New Business Development group and report to Kim Abdallah, VP of New Ventures for AMEAP.
