TGS’ production RTM algorithm implements an optimized higher-order finite-difference method in space axes, and a second-order finite-difference method with Stork filter in the time axis.

The algorithm offers stable wavefields for TTI and tilted-orthorhombic media by progressively damping the pseudoshear-wave noise. The optimum grid spacing is automatically computed to produce dispersion-free and alias-free image efficiently. The Illumination compensation is implemented to improve image quality and amplitude balancing.
