Residual Statics

TGS uses Techco’s well-known “MASTT” program for its residual statics calculations

The MASTT algorithm differs from conventional residual statics approaches primarily in its computation of the delta_t time shifts which constitute the ‘knowns’ in the residual static linear system of equations.

Specifically, MASTT computes a series of time shifts among judiciously chosen Prestack, rather than poststack, traces, and thereby avoids the need to construct a set of model or “pilot” traces (pilot trace construction is often a weak link in conventional residual statics algorithms, since accurate pilot trace construction presupposes the existence of an accurate statics solution—which, does not exist.
