Strengthen CO₂ Storage Site Characterization

Build confidence in your carbon storage site from the subsurface up.

Our integrated site characterization offering combines advanced seismic acquisition, processing and interpretation to resolve the storage reservoir, overburden and near-surface environment. Streamer seismic, ocean bottom nodes, DAS VSP and Ultra High-Resolution 3D (UHR3D) technologies can be tailored to deliver the resolution, coverage and repeatability required for each project. This detailed insight helps evaluate geological complexity, improve storage planning and establish a reliable baseline for future monitoring.

By reducing subsurface uncertainty, operators can make better-informed decisions and manage technical and project risk more effectively. Backed by decades of geophysical expertise, we provide the technical foundation needed to progress carbon storage projects with confidence.

Carbon Storage Solutions Across the Project Lifecycle

TGS delivers integrated data, insight and monitoring solutions across the carbon storage value chain, from early prospect screening and lead maturation to site characterization and long-term surveillance. By combining industry-trusted seismic data with new baseline acquisition, early-warning capabilities and triggered or scheduled surveys, we help operators establish a robust framework for Measurement, Monitoring and Verification (MMV). This integrated approach provides the subsurface understanding needed to reduce uncertainty, manage risk and make confident decisions throughout the storage lifecycle.

Improved CCS Subsurface Insight with Advanced Ocean Bottom Node Technology

We are powering the future of carbon sequestration. Our recent collaboration at the Sleipner field utilizes UHR3D ultra-high resolution seismic imaging technology combined with ocean bottom nodes to vividly image the saline aquifer of the Utsira Formation on Sleipner East and the CO₂ stored within.

Bringing Cutting-Edge Seismic Acquisition to CCS

TGS is actively testing a variety of cost-effective seismic acquisition and node-based technologies to enhance subsurface imaging efficiencies. Our Ultra-High Resolution 3D (UHR3D) imaging technology, also known as extended high-resolution (XHR), can provide accurate subsurface imaging of carbon storage sites for initial site identification and ongoing 4D monitoring. Combined with ocean bottom node (OBN)-based solutions, UHR3D seismic can also provide innovative, repeatable and cost-effective solutions to monitor carbon storage reservoirs.
